Ebullience and zest swathed the purlieu of Army Public School, Udhampur by celebrating its Annual Function "VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM"from 5th to 8th Nov.,2023. The event was a myriad of celebrations replete with music, dazzling dances and hues of colours amidst great splendor, vibrancy and resplendence exhibiting the theme. The entire show was based on the theme “VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM- The World is one family.” Maj. General Navraj Dhillon, GOC 71 Sub- area & Patron APS Udhampur, Maj. General Avinash Das , Commandant Command Hospital,Northern Command and Sh. Joginder Singh, IPS, SSP Udhampur graced the occasion as the esteemed Chief Guests for three days. Mrs. Kiran Kotwal, Mother of Martyr Major Shatrujeet Singh Kotwal and his wife Mrs. Aabha Kotwal alongwith his son, were the Guests of honour for the occasion. Smt. Kiran kotwal sponsered the CCA and Sports Rolling trophies for the academic session 2022-23 which was given to Beas house for its excellent performance in both cultural activities and sports. The program was further enhanced by the dignified presence of Mrs. Ashima Dhillon, Chairperson FWO, HQ 71 Sub area, Brig. Satish Dahiya, Sena Medal, Cdr TA Group & Chairman APS Udhampur and Mrs Sundar Dahiya. The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial lamp followed by Ganesh Vandhana. The Principal of the school, Mr. Sanjeev kumar, formally welcomed the eminent guests and presented the Annual Report Memorabilia. He thanked everyone for their contribution in the journey of APS Udhampur. Accolades were bestowed to the exceptional and outstanding performers in the fields of Scholastic, Co-scholastic and Sports. Manika Sharma and Ayushi Aabha Sharma from class 12th and Ayushman Dwivedi from class 10th have been awarded with Pachauri Medal, a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and certificate for best performance in the board exams; Talented students who scored more than 90% marks in the board exams were honored with Rs 5,000 along with a certificate. NCC cadet Aranya Sharma was awarded with a cash prize of One and a half thousand rupees along with a certificate for her excellent performance in NCC. Prabhdeep Singh, a student of class IX who won the gold medal by defeating the three-time world champion German player in the under-23 age group in the fifth Tennikoit World Cup held in South Africa, was also specially honored and was given a certificate along with a cash prize of five thousand rupees. Their excellent performance was highly appreciated by the chief guests. All the promising students of the school were urged to hone their inherent talent and potential to make a special identity for their country India in the world. They all believed that a student's education was incomplete without keeping in mind the goal of serving his country. The honored guests appreciated the award winners and blessed them, wishing them a bright future. The ebullient dancers of the school presented thematic "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, depicting rich radiant and vibrant cultural dances of different countries of G20. Enthralling Rampwalk by little children, Vishwashakti Dance, Mexican Dance, Cow Boy Dance, Haryanvi Dance, Rajasthani Dance, Indian Classical Dance, Brazilian Carnival, Arabian Nights, Bengali Durga Puja etc. were the main center of attraction. Not only this, a beautiful and interesting play on 'Incredible India', full of patriotism, was also presented by the students. The students proved that the world is one family by performing the theme 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' with immense enthusiasm, vivacity and gaiety amidst most of the celebrations filled with mesmerizing music, spectacular dances and colorful programs. Each and every performance of the show was riveting. The programme rode to a final crescendo with the fervent Indian Classical dance. It added élan to the function. The Vote of thanks was rendered by Mrs Reena Sharma, Vice principal APS Udhampur who thanked everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the show. She urged the students to hone and sharpen their talents and potentials to carve a niche for the nation. She opined that Education is incomplete without keeping in view the goal of serving one's own country. The Chief guests and the Guests of Honour applauded and blessed the prize winners with their bright future. The Annual function 2023-24 was a grand success and was appreciated by one and all.
